What is Reiki?

Reiki is a pathway to living in harmony and
is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing.
Energy Healing involves direct application of Chi for the purpose
of strengthening the energy system.
Chi (or qi) is the term used by the Chinese for our basic life force energy, and ki is the Japanese spelling of the word.
The word "Reiki" is translated as "Universal Life Force Energy."


Reiki is very easily learned, very simple to use, and beneficial for all.
A Reiki session is very simply performed.
Once someone has been attuned to the
Reiki energy, the person places his or her hands on or
slightly above the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur,
and the energy begins flowing.
All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the practitioner.
The Reiki practitioner's "job" is to get out of the way,
to keep the Reiki healing space open, and to watch/listen
for signs of what to do next.



What can I expect from a Level I Reiki class?


We will discuss the history of Reiki, and it is also
recommended that you read one of the many books on the history of Reiki
that are widely available now.
The books we recommend are "Animal Reiki", and any books on the subject by Frank Arjava Petter.

You will receive a Reiki attunement to begin to channel the
First Level of Reiki energy. In the Usui Reiki system there are three
levels. The Reiki attunement is a very powerful experience in itself.


You will be taught the basic Reiki hand positions to work
on yourself and another person or animal, and then have plenty of time to practice
Reiki under the supervision of the teachers. Carmen's three dogs have volunteered their
services as subjects :)



Teachers

Jennifer Walz.L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist and traditional
Usui Reiki Master-Teacher who has been working in the holistic healing field since 1987.
Jennifer is in private practice in Dallas.


Carmen Bergin is a Reiki Master who has studied under Jennifer Walz.
