What is Reiki?
By taking Reiki I, you will begin (or continue) to awaken to the energies in your own body and those around you. It is a pathway to living in harmony.
Reiki is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing. Energy Healing involves direct application of Chi for the purpose of strengthening the client's energy system. Chi (or qi) is the term used by the Chinese for our basic life force energy, and ki is the Japanese spelling of the word. The word "Reiki" is translated as "Universal Life Force Energy."
Reiki is very easily learned, very simple to use, and beneficial for all. A Reiki session is very simply performed. Once someone has been attuned to the Reiki energy, the person places his or her hands on or slightly above the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and the energy begins flowing. All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the practitioner. The practitioner's "job" is to get out of the way, to keep the healing space open, and to watch/listen for signs of what to do next.
What can I expect from a Level I class?
The class will begin with a simple guided meditation to help center you and focus your intentions on healing both yourself and others.
We will discuss the history of Reiki, and it is also recommended that you read one of the many fine books on the history of Reiki that are widely available now. When you sign up, we can recommend several.
You will receive an attunement to begin to channel the First Level of Reiki energy. In the Usui system there are three levels. The attunement is a very powerful experience in itself.
You will be taught the basic hand positions to work on yourself and another person, and then have plenty of time to practice under the supervision of the teachers. Reiki Level I is best used as a self-healing technique and for use with family, friends and pets. It is the first step towards becoming a Reiki Pracitioner.
Teachers
Jennifer Walz is a traditional Usui Reiki Master who also is a licensed acupuncturist. Mary Warejcka is a traditional Usui Reiki Master and a Shamanic Reiki Master who also has a master's of theological studies.
